Terms & Conditions

Last Updated: February 2026

Please read these Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) before using the Landlord First LLP website (the “Website”) and any related online forms, pages, or features (collectively, the “Service”).

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service.

1. General Provisions

These Terms apply to all visitors and users of the Service.

Landlord First LLP provides paralegal services in Ontario, including representation in matters where paralegal representation is permitted. Our work is provided in accordance with applicable law and professional obligations.

2. Information Only & No Retainer Relationship

General Information: The content on this Website is shared for general information purposes only. It is not legal advice and is not intended to replace advice for your specific situation.

No Retainer Until Confirmed: Using this Website, submitting a form, or sending an email does not automatically create a paralegal-client relationship. A relationship is created only when we confirm it in writing (typically through a signed retainer agreement) and any required retainer/payment has been received.

Confidential Information: To protect your privacy, please avoid sending highly sensitive or urgent details through Website forms or email until we confirm the retainer relationship in writing.

If you need advice for your specific matter, please contact us so we can confirm next steps.

3. Scope of Services

Landlord First LLP focuses on landlord representation matters in Ontario. Depending on the matter, services may include:

  • Drafting and serving notices (e.g., N4, N5, N6, N7, N12, N13)
  • Preparing and filing applications (e.g., L1, L2, A2)
  • Representation at hearings where permitted
  • Guidance on next steps after an order is issued (including enforcement steps where applicable)

The exact scope of work for any file will always be set out in the retainer agreement for that matter. If additional work is required beyond the agreed scope, we will discuss it with you before proceeding.

4. Fees, Payments & Disbursements

Fees: Our fees (including flat-fee services, where applicable) are outlined in the retainer agreement and are based on the agreed scope of work.

Disbursements: Some files involve third-party costs (for example: LTB filing fees, process server/courier fees, or other necessary expenses). These are your responsibility and will be disclosed as clearly as possible.

No Guaranteed Outcomes: While we work diligently to pursue the best possible result, legal outcomes depend on many factors outside anyone’s control and cannot be guaranteed.

Trust Funds / Refunds: If funds are held in trust, they are applied to completed work and invoiced services according to the retainer agreement. If services end before completion, any unearned portion may be returned in accordance with the retainer agreement and applicable rules.

5. Intellectual Property

All Website content (including text, branding, design, and other materials) remains the property of Landlord First LLP or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You may view, download, and print content for personal, non-commercial use, provided you do not modify it or remove proprietary notices.

6. Accuracy & Limitation of Liability

We make reasonable efforts to keep Website content current and accurate. However, the Website may not always reflect the most recent changes in law, procedures, or timelines.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Landlord First LLP and its representatives are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from the use of (or inability to use) the Service, reliance on Website content, or delays caused by tribunals/courts or third-party providers.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability where such limitation is not permitted by law.

7. Termination

We may suspend or restrict access to the Website (including forms/features) if needed to protect the Service, prevent misuse, or comply with legal/professional obligations.

If you wish to end a retainer relationship, the process and any related terms are governed by the retainer agreement for your file.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms occasionally. The “Last Updated” date reflects the latest version. Continued use of the Service after updates are posted means you accept the updated Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the applicable federal laws of Canada. Any disputes relating to these Terms or the Service will be addressed in Ontario, unless otherwise required by law.
